Abstract

From research posters to PowerPoint presentations, students are constantly composing texts that communicate ideas through multiple modes of communication. This workshop will introduce the concept of multimodality and consider the ways in which tutors can effectively provide feedback on multimodal projects. We will also complicate this discussion by examining how many oral and visual presentations that once took place in-person have now shifted to Zoom or other online mediums. The first half of the workshop will provide key principles for consulting on multimodal texts. In the second half of the workshop, participants will be asked to consider their own institutional contexts and the ways in which this pedagogy can be further implemented into consultant practice.
