Abstract:

This presentation focuses on the role that tutors play in students’ writing process and their academic journey. The presenter will discuss how tutors support writers through multiple modalities to emphasize their agency. She will describe the role of non-evaluative feedback through learners’ writing process, and how such an approach helps them to address challenges and to improve their overall writing skills, confidence, and self-revision strategies. While working directly on students’ documents, she will explain how a conversation about writing can help to validate students’ thoughts and empower them as writers.
