DESCRIPTION:Webinars provide a space to share experiences\, ideas\, strategies\, and questions about online writing centers (OWCs). \nEvent Details\n\nPresenters: Dr. Candis Bond\, Dr. Scott Whiddon\, and Dr. Carolyn Wisniewski\nTitle: “Fostering a Culture of Research in Your Writing Center“\nHosting Organization: Online Writing Centers Association\n\nThis webinar will engage the audience in a discussion of how writing center directors\, at a variety of institutions\, have created a culture of tutor research in their own respective writing centers. Such work not only allows for more substantive student support but also helps justify center needs and creates a stronger\, more visible campus identity. Panelists will talk about how investigating everyday writing center practices can lead to presentations and publications. \n\nASL Interpretation and Recording\nWe work with Morr Interpreting to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters in each webinar. Webinars are recorded\, given edited closed captions\, and shared in our Event Archive up to 2 weeks after the event date. \nGuidelines for Participating\nWebinars are currently held in a Zoom Pro room. Participation is open to everyone\, including not-yet OWCA members. To ensure our interpreters are visible and can translate without auditory or visual distractions\, we ask that participants keep their audio and video turned off during the event. Participants are welcome to ask questions and contribute in the chat. \nRecording\nThis event will be recorded\, and the recording will be available to the public. \nRegister\nYou can register for a webinar through the scheduling system below.
